Regular adoption hours are every Saturday from 12pm-3pm, and every Sunday from 12pm-3pm at PETCO located on 201 Union Street in Waterbury, CT 06706.

Are you interested in giving a forever home to a cat, dog, or puppy? Do you have a busy schedule? No worries. If you want to personally visit with a particular animal email a volunteer at patbob@reagan.com to request an appointment.

How Does the Adoption Process Work?

  1. Please contact Hanna at 203-597-1236 and have your Veterninarian's information on hand, so that we'll be able to reach out and perform a reference check.
  2. If seeking to adopt a cat or dog, print and fill out the appropriate form for the type of pet you're seeking to adopt (Cat Form Dog Form). For other types of pets, please arrange to meet with Hanna for an in-person interview.

General Adoption Policy Guidelines

  • Completion of an application does not mean that you are approved.
  • You MUST have a veterinarian reference to adopt. When we check a veterinarian reference on your current or past pets, we are looking for a vaccine history, spay/neuter and if you have followed through with veterinarian recommendations for your pet(s). All of your pets must be up to date on vaccines and spayed or neutered. For adoption of DOGS you must own your own home. You MUST be at least 21 years of age to adopt. All pets have an adoption fee to help cover the vet expenses.
  • All our animals are spayed or neutered, have been examined by a veterinarian, and are up to date with vaccinations. You will also meet with Hanna for an in-person interview.
  • Sometimes Rose Hope Animal Refuge requires a home visit. If a home visit is required, you must be able to consent for a visit in order to adopt a pet.
  • We choose the home that best suits the pet. We reserve the right to refuse an adoption. Some of our animals have been through some kind of trauma in their short lives. Our animals can not speak for themselves, so as their guardians we speak for them.

Cat Room Help

Mature, responsible adults are needed at our Cat Adoption Center.

Love cats? Our beautiful animals could use a helping hand, and sure do love a little extra playtime. If you could dedicate 1 or 2 morning(s) each week from about 9:30AM - 11:30AM to help us with providing attention and playing with the cats, cleaning the cat cages, and feeding & giving the cats fresh water, you'll be rewarded by the sight of many smiling furry faces.
